Head, Statistics and Data Unit


Robert is the current Head of the Statistics & Data unit at the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) in Nairobi, Kenya. He is responsible for the UN-Habitat’s global urban monitoring and reporting on the global targets such as: SDGs post 2015, as well as the New Urban Agenda. This also includes leading the urban statistical work on SDGS, City Prosperity Index, and other city monitoring frameworks. Robert’s earlier work was with; UNICEF as the lead on Research, Evaluation and Statistics in field offices; various academic and international organizations including the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine-UK, University of Heidelberg-Germany, and African Population and Health Research Center, Kenya, etc. His research interests include: global urban monitoring, use of earth observation technologies, urban inequalities and marginalization, urban expansions, slums and demographic surveillance systems, urbanization and adolescents transitions.
